For those who had not read, I suggest the interesting reportage Attilio Bolzoni, mostly at the port of Gioia Tauro, published Friday, January 14, 2011 on the Republic.
survey on the plight of the Italian largest container terminal, which is affected by the economic crisis as well as internationally, including competition other major Mediterranean ports, most notably Tangier and Port Said. Situation described in the book by Sergio Bologna, which I wrote in a post a few weeks ago.
But reading the article by Bolzoni we can not correlate the crisis of Gioia Tauro is also difficult relationship with the territory. This is a case in point Calabrian Italian inability to find or at least try, a balance along the coast, including the necessary port facilities and the equally compelling reasons of those who claim free access to banks, from a harmonious relationship with the sea and the coastal landscape. Themes which, as noted above , have dealt Aimaro Island and Rosario Pavia, "The Journal of Architecture" last November.
